Christ Presbyterian Church Pooler

Mission Statement

Christ Presbyterian Church is a Family of Faith, Celebrating

Life in Christ through Worship, Education, Fellowship and Service.

Celebrating Christ’s Presence … Growing Into Christ’s Future.

We are an active, generous church that participates in a number of programs. For example, One Great Hour of Sharing is a major seasonal collection that is generally made Easter Sunday. Since We met “virtually” on Easter Sunday, we did not take this collection, PCUSA recently advised us that in these challenging times the need was greater than ever and that we may make our offering beyond that date. Here are a few of our congregation-supported efforts and programs in OGHS.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, funded through One Great Hour of Sharing, is the emergency and refugee program of the PCUSA. Members of our church, in addition to financial offerings, have volunteered onsite during many hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. We have helped clean up, rebuild, distribute food and anything else that was required.

Food insecurity is another program funded through One Great Hour of Sharing. We are a Certified Hunger Congregation, helping through our Food Pantry. The interfaith food outreach mission of the Pooler area held its first meeting on September 22, 2008 at Christ Presbyterian Church in Pooler. It is still going strong and, in addition to financial contributions and special food collections (like pasta, cereal and holiday needs) several members of our congregation regularly volunteer to organize and distribute to the needy in Pooler. There are no “proofs of need” required, simply proof of residence. The food pantry receives much of its food through, and serves as a point of delivery for, Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. This, in turn, is supported by financial contributions and donations to be the food safety net for thousands of children, elders, families, Veterans, and disabled individuals.

Other missions we support are Thornwell, in Clinton, SC which offers Foster Care and family support; Swainsboro Senior Apartments in Savannah; and Mission Haven which provides temporary housing to missionaries and their families upon returning to the US.

Our members are also involved in a number of local Assistance, Development and Empowerment organization in Chatham and surrounding counties

If YOU would like to make a contribution to our Mission efforts, you can either put a check in the offering plate or special envelope and note the program you are directing your contribution to. While we are in “coronavirus” mode, you can drop a check with the appropriate notation to Marti at the church address. Thank you!
